Do clothes get shrunk in the wash anymore? Maybe it is simply that I learned the right way to do things but not since I was a teenager have I significantly shrunken any of my clothing while washing it. Strangely I have begun to wonder if this was ever even a real thing or, as so many other things in our collective “memory” banks are just a trope of television sitcoms that I confused for a dose of reality. We all remember the tiny clothing brought out as gags on episodes of Full House but did this ever really happen?
I’ll tell you one thing, if it did happen to me I would immediately call anyone who handles Whirlpool appliance repair and Maytag dryer repair. Cartoonishly shrunk clothing is nothing a normal person wants to have to deal with, not without a laugh track. Still, I wonder why I would remember things this way. I feel like when I was younger my Mother complained of clothing shrinking on a fairly regular basis and yet no evidence that it occurs anymore has reared its head to me in years. What gives?
Not that I am complaining. Obviously we are all excited that clothes tend to not shrink in the laundry anymore it just seems strange how unknowable the reason why this phenomena ended.
